Mix Americano

Mix Americano follows the same structure as a normal Americano, but with mixed teams. Each team always consists of one woman and one man, creating a balanced and social format that works especially well for mixed events.

Partners rotate every round, so you never keep the same partner. With most player counts every woman plays with every man exactly once, and in each match you face the other team's woman and man. Each player collects the points from every match, and the player with the highest total score wins.

To use Mix Americano, the number of women and men must be equal. The format works with 4 to 16 players, or with 20 or 24 players, and works best when everyone participates for the full duration of the tournament.

Note: Mix Americano requires an equal number of women and men. If this is not possible, consider using Normal Americano or Mexicano instead.

Tip: If you have a big skill gap (for example a few strong players or pros mixed with amateurs), you can use Mix Americano as a balancing tool. Assign the stronger players to one side (for example “men”) and the rest to the other side (for example “women”), regardless of gender. This helps ensure two strong players are never paired together in the same team.
